The Center for Drought and Risk Research (CDRR) is an academic center at Beijing Normal University (BNU).It focuses on drought monitoring and risk management to better mitigate the environmental, social and economic impact of droughts. The CDRR aims to promote collaboration among scientists and capacity building within stakeholders, and thereby increase preparedness and resilience of society to drought.

The goals of the CDRR include:
      . Enhance a better understanding of drought phenomenon across multiple disciplines.
      . Provide a platform to initiate and discuss scientific progress on drought research.
      . Act as a forum for discussion on policy issues related to sustainable drought management.
      . Work towards developing a regional drought monitoring/assessment system.
      . Support the decision making of national drought mitigation plans
      . Act as an agency for education and training.
